At one point, many of the home workers started out as an Uber employee making at least $15 hour, awesome health benefits and even free Uber rides allowance. Sadly, the benefits and free rides ended after being switched to a staffing company name Zero Chaos. The one time employees, are now just like Uber drivers – only independent contractors. One great thing is that their pay stayed the same, they still get 40 hrs weekly guaranteed, and they now are on a weekly pay schedule instead of bi-weekly, whatever that’s worth. But, the benefits with the staffing company are nowhere near in the same ball park as what they had with Uber.
Uber home based jobs lasted for nearly two years, but now the giant tech company is in the middle of phasing the positions out all together. More than likely by the end of this year (2015) there will be no one working from home as they have opened up new office locations they are trying to staff instead. Not to mention, a center in Manila who are also handling their customer service.
