Today we will discuss Uber’s Firearms Policy!

Did you know Uber has recently changed their policy on firearms that bans drivers and riders (both) from having any type of concealed weapon while using their platform. Currently there’s much talk questioning was this the correct move by Uber, a rideshare app producing company; which passed a strange order that no passenger or driver should not be carrying any form of firearm into the vehicle while they are using their system.

Uber firearms policy prohibit the possession of firearms of any type across ALL of their vehicle options. That includes the professional licensed partners who drive uberBLACK and TAXI too. Uber said they safety is a top priority to them and they want everyone using the digital platform to feel comfortable and safe.

Previously, Uber had a varied policy regarding firearms that basically informed the drivers to follow the state, local, and federal law. At that time it differed from one state to another and country to country. Now it’s an absolutely NO, NO across the board.

So what will happen if you are caught with a firearm riding Uber?

That’s simple. The company has, therefore stated that any person caught having infringed, this prohibition may lose the accessibility of the Uber app. Basically, Uber will see to it that they are banned from the system if they don’t adhere to these rules.Uber Firearms Policy Update

The new policy has been brought about as gun control is at the forefront of many Americans minds. However, this revised rule raises questions of what Uber can and cannot tell its drivers.

After all, drivers are independent contractors and not employed by the rideshare company. So is this going a bit too far? Maybe, maybe not.

But, unfortunately, since businesses in the United States are meant to keep their own rules concerning firearms, Uber ‘is’ allowed to make changes to its policies regarding such.

But, that doesn’t stop it from being recognized by the community as another matter altogether, though. See some people are really taking the news of banning firearms not so well – they simply think it’s not fair and that they are being stripped of their rights! Keep in mind that the #2 rideshare company Lyft already has the same policy in place!

For the most part, if you are a passenger looking for a comfortable ride with a person who is unarmed then you can use Uber as a safe method of transportation. At the same time, Uber also keeps their drivers safe, with this new policy implemented, there will be less of a possibility of attacks on  drivers  which you read often in newspapers.
