0:00 Hey everyone it’s Andrew Esquivel here. And today I’m going to be doing my first
0:05 Uber driving. So uh lets talk about that. Here in Illinois we gotta have a few
0:15 stickers. They send it to you in the mail. Got this thing I think it’s for an airport.
0:20 They tell you where to put it on the window, over here got the giant U and
0:29 also some sort of special information right there.
0:34 I got a 2003 Mitsubishi Outlander and it passed all the requirements to be an
0:40 Uber driver car.
0:42 So the only thing left to do now is actually try and see if we can pick
0:46 someone up and see how it works.
0:50 I Wasn’t planning on doing it this soon, but Uber sent
0:55 me a message saying that if I don’t do my first drive by Sunday, and today is
1:00 Thursday
1:01 they’re going to kick me off the system. And I can’t be put back on the system
1:05 which kind of stinks.
1:06 If you think about it because it’s supposed to be at your own leisure.
1:09 I wasn’t really feeling like doing it yet, but in order to stay in the system
1:14 I gotta do what you gotta do. So
1:19 there’s nothing left but to get in the car and pick someone up. See how that
1:28 goes.
1:31 Alright little light so you can see me.
1:36 Well, let’s try this out.
1:41 Hey Everyone, back here with an update and i just got done with my first ever
1:48 Uber run and everything seemed to go just fine.
1:55 My drop off location – was a little different because there was like a fair
1:59 going on behind me and uh I had to – she wanted to be dropped off at a
2:08 different spot than normal, but you can just end the trip wherever they wish to
2:13 be dropped off. So it was like maybe 15 minutes worth of work.
2:19 I don’t exactly know how much money I made. But uh you may notice this is
2:24 actually a different day than before.
2:27 The other day I didn’t get any any rides that wanted to go.
2:32 So this is actually the day after and it’s not as late in the day so there’s
2:40 more foot traffic and there’s a lot of people here at the fair that I bet would
2:44 like a ride home.
2:46 So I’m going to keep driving around here and see what I can do, but uh my first
2:55 Uber experience ever
2:57 as a driver went pretty well. I basically uh — a person got in the car, I just confirmed
3:05 that they were the person
3:07 and hit the app navigated to where the person wanted to go and drop them off.
3:12 Now i will admit I was a little nervous to be honest because this is the first
3:17 time I’ve ever done this. And gosh it it’s just different.
3:29 So uh first Uber experience ever
3:34 as a driver and i would say was quite relaxed, I would say. My car is a little
3:44 squeaky because it’s an older car, still within the requirements of Uber. But,
3:54 I don’t know if that’s going to doc me points on my review or not. We will see.
4:00 But first time ever doing it was not bad, not bad at all.
4:07 Whether it is worth the money and gas and time – I don’t know. I have to check
4:11 and report back in on that in the next portion of this video. So stay tuned.
4:18 Ok so instead of going right over to where I tell you the money and whatnot
4:25 I decided to give Uber another go and less than like
4:29 two minutes later I got another ping from a nice gentleman. And the ride was
4:37 pleasant, we had a nice chat; as we drove. And I mean, it’s nine o’clock at night
4:47 still getting pings. I myself am a night owl so I got the pleasure of helping
4:54 another night shift gentleman – a nice of a guy get to where he needs to go
4:58 props to that. So you know… uh this is actually not so bad.
5:04 I was a little nervous, like i said at first. That was one of my first ride. But it’s
5:11a lot better when you, when the person like to strike up a conversation.
5:17 So yeah, so far so good.
5:23 I might continue driving a little bit, the night is still young and I now
5:29 happen to be in a downtown area so there’s bound to be people who need to
5:36 know
5:36 who need to get to where they need to go. The only problem is, I’m not that great
5:42 with downtown areas because of the one-way streets and what have you.
5:47 So it can be pretty tricky and I don’t know this area very well but i might go
5:55 back to my house and start again
5:58 over there. So yeah. And the one of the reasons why I definitely had to do this
6:08 today is because i only had a few hours left before
6:11 Uber said they were going to kick me off of the system
6:13 for being inactive.
6:14 I wasn’t really feeling ready to do it yet, but i’m glad that i did and I’m glad
6:26 now I can’t get kicked off of the Uber system. So that being said, I – everything
6:37 seems to be going like it should.
6:40 Cool. Ok people of YouTube time to see how much money i actually made driving
6:48 around as an Uber driver.
6:51 So let’s talk about that. So on today, two trips and total online time was 47
7:02 minutes.
7:03 Now the total estimated pay for today, for doing 47 minutes of work
7:11 15.19.
7:14 That’s not bad actually.
7:19 Granted i do have to take into consideration…
7:23 gasps; and you know when you do this sort of thing you got to think about a few
7:28 things here. The value of your car is going to go down to do this consistently
7:33 obviously because the more miles you have in the car
7:36 the less your car is worth. There is other maintenance to do on your car if you do
7:39 a lot of driving.
7:41 That’s something you got to take into consideration as well.
7:44 You know uh, the kind of clientele you get can vary drastically. There’s been Uber
7:53 horror stories out there. Where things have really gone wrong. But for me, so far
8:01 these first two trips have been extremely promising because i haven’t
8:07 had any issues.
8:09 So as long as you remain professional
8:15 I would imagine that it’s a viable way to make me a little bit of side money.
8:22 Heck, I could go back out and continue to do this today, but right now I – i just
8:31 want to make the video to illustrate my first time ever being an Uber driver so
8:41 that is that. You can make money if you’re smart about it.
8:48 I don’t think I’ll be getting kicked off the system for inactivity.
8:54 So there’s that and he got some money coming to me.
8:59 so yeah,
9:03 take that as you will.
