Question: What is the Uber driver application process?★

Answer: The application process is not too bad. As long as you have all the necessary things needed to get started. However, the process can vary from city to city but, we will give you a general idea of what to expect.

In order to apply, you must at least have a 4 door vehicle that can hold at least 4 riders. 21 of age or older. The vehicle age varies by city, so you will have to contact Uber support directly for that.

If you have a newer 4 door vehicle, you should be good to proceed. You must also have a valid driver’s license (1 yr USA experience at least), car insurance and registration. Normally it’s okay if the registration doesn’t have your name on it, but the insurance must. You do not have to be the primary insurance  policy holder — added as an additional driver is fine. Uber Driver Application Process

Uber also will check your background going back the last 7 years! They check the database nationwide – not just in your current state.

Once you are ready to apply go to uber.com/drive to get started.  If you already have a rider account with Uber, you would simply click “Already Have An Account” and log-in with the same account details.

Uber application process time: The entire application process can take 10 business days to 30 business days. It will take at least 5-7 business days for your background check to come back.

That’s only if you have lived in one state. If you have lived in several states, you can expect the background check process to take longer.

Inspection: Some cities also has state regulation that requires all drivers to  have a vehicle inspection perform yearly. The inspection must be passed before you are approved to drive on the platform.

TNC License: TNC stands for (Transportation Network Company) TNC License is a requirement in order to drive in some cities. This is not an Uber requirement, but a city requirement.

If an inspection on TNC license is required Uber will let you know.

So be patient. In the meantime, make sure you have uploaded clear documents so they can be approved prior to your background check clearing. That way, you will be ready to hit the road once everything is back.
