Uber Dashcams For Cars Policy: Is A Camera Inside My Car Allowed?
Last Updated on June 15, 2021 by Rideshare Community Support
Driver Question:
Can I have a dashcam inside my car while driving Uber?
Answer:
Uber drivers are allowed to install dash cams, video cams, or other recording devices to record riders.
Uber Hidden Camera Recording Laws
Some state laws do require drivers using a dashcam or any recording device inside their vehicle to disclose to riders that they’re being recorded fully. Therefore we recommend you post a sign for riders to see. A sticker on the window or door is also recommended. You shouldn’t secretly record your riders.

Adding Dash Cam Alert To Your Uber Profile
Uber will also allow drivers to register their dashcam with them; Uber will put a notation on a driver’s profile, so everyone who gets them as a driver will automatically see that they have a dashcam recording in their vehicle for protection.
Uber Approved Dash Cam
When looking for a camera, the main thing you want is dual-lens, front and rear-facing, dual shock features, with sound, auto on/off, parking mode, and night vision. Also, one holds 32 gigs at minimum (SD card storage), or up to 256 gigs of SD if you’re a full-time driver.
Taxes
Lastly, remember that anything you’re buying for your business is tax-deductible, so keep all receipts.
