Rider Concern: ★ Uber Cleaning Fee Vomit: Today we will discuss the cost and policy on the cleaning fee briefly.
If a driver report a mess made in their vehicle most specifically vomit, then Uber will bill the rider. Uber cleaning fee can be either $50.00, $100.00 or $200.00. This has been updated – now a rider can be charged $20, $40, $80 or $150.00.
Usually, Uber do not have anything in between these amounts. Most of the time vomit and body fluids will be billed at $150.00. $20.00 if there is a small amount.
You are still responsible for a cleaning fee even if you did not do it yourself. Maybe a friend or your kid made the mess. If your account is the one used to book the ride, your account will be charged.
Split Fares
On split fares no matter who made the mess out of the group, Uber will split the cleaning fee among the group. It would be your responsibility to get your money back from the person who caused the damages.
Drivers Submitting A Claim
At this time, drivers must show only photos of the mess within 48 hours to be reimbursed.
No cleaning receipt is required from the driver unless Uber feels it’s necessary in order to determine extent of damage. Uber will determine the amount riders will be billed, drivers cannot write in and ask for a specific amount. Uber do not take any fees out of the cleaning fee, they bill the rider and give the driver 100% of that amount.
Paying Driver In Cash
It’s best that a rider do not pay the driver cash for the cleaning. Because sometimes a driver will still submit a claim in to Uber requesting to be compensated. If the driver do this, the rider may be billed twice.
If a rider think the amount they were billed is unreasonable or not accurate, they can contact Uber and ask for a reevaluation of the incident by logging into their account here. Rarely, but sometimes, the agent may adjust your bill to a lower amount. If you were billed $150.00, they might only charge you $100.00 or if you were billed $100.00, they might adjust down to $50.00.
If the driver is caught sending in fake or fraudulent vomit photos they will be permanently deactivated on the spot. No question asked.
