We do recommend that you check the app at least 15-20 minutes prior to your schedule time to leave to make sure a vehicle is available and this will give the driver enough time to get to your location. The app will show you approximately how far away the closest driver is from you. If the nearest driver is literally 2-5 mins away, then you can wait a bit before requesting the ride if you don’t need to leave right now. 

But, keep in mind that it’s very possible that by the time you are ready to leave, the nearest driver could be farther away. So try your best to request your Uber to best fit your needs. Be mindful that technology will never be prefect nor will your driver. Drivers sometimes can get lost on the way to pick you up and or on the way to your destination even if they are following a GPS. Therefore if your destination is time sensitive, you might should request your ride far in advance or opt for another transportation method besides an Uber.

How To Book:

☛ First, when you open your app, the app’s GPS and Wi-Fi can be used to set your pickup location. We recommend that you enter your exact address or you can type your venue name by touching the pickup location bar. It’s also a good idea to enter your destination so the driver can already have this information.

☛ Next, you can select your desired vehicle option by using the slider at the bottom of the map. When you tap on any of the vehicle options available to you it will show you the rate and the max passenger capacity. You can also get a fare estimate prior to booking this trip. ☛ Lastly, after you have gotten your estimate and you are ready to leave, you can go ahead and set your location and vehicle option, by tapping “Set Pickup Location” to request your Uber cab.

Uber Cancellation Policy

☛ Remember, you can cancel within 5 minutes without getting charged a cancellation fee. If you are not at the pick-up location within 5 minutes, your driver can cancel and you will get charged the fee. Cancellation fees can vary depending on your city. Cancellations fees normally ranges from $5 to $10. If the trip being cancelled was not a fault of your own, maybe because the driver didn’t show up or something and you was charged, please contact Uber and they will refund or credit the fee.

Military Pickups

☛ If you are on a military base, pickup can be a bit tricky. Drivers are not required to have military access (CAC card), but you can always request an Uber, then call or text your driver once the ride is booked and asked them if they do.
