Question: ★Does Uber Charge Per Person?★
Answer: Having the option to take an Uber over a TAXI cab or bus is a beautiful thing. No matter where you are headed calling an Uber is still one of the most convenient, affordable ways around your city. And if Uber is not in your city yet, hang tight they are coming!
You should be glad to know that Uber does NOT charge per person – they never have. But, keep reading we will let you know what to expect including any extra fees you might incur if you let more than the allowed number of passengers ride in on your trip.
☞About Uber Rates: In general, Uber rides are charged a base plus rates for time and distance. Rates vary by vehicle option, so be sure to check out what’s available in your area at uber.com/cities or get a fare estimate via your app prior.
☞Getting Hit With An Ugly Upcharge: It’s important to point out that you should only allow the max number of passengers allowed for the vehicle type you have requested to accompany you doing your trip . For example if you requested an uberBLACK, you and 3 others can ride at no additional charge.
However, lets say if your driver pulls up in a SUV that can hold 6-7 people, you are not allowed to add extra riders in on this trip. You requested for only up to 4 people to ride. If you needed a bigger size vehicle to accommodate more people, then you should have requested an uberXL or SUV. If you allow more than 4 riders to take the ride with you, Uber will bill you at the SUV rate.
☞A Bigger Car Don’t Mean A Thing: Just because your driver shows up in a bigger vehicle than you requested do not mean you will be charged more automatically. If you requested a standard sedan under uberX, but your driver is driving a Chevy Tahoe, you will not be billed more.
Only time you would be charged more is if you have more people riding in on your trip than you paid for. If you requested an uberX, then you have paid for at least 4 seats. No matter what vehicle your driver shows up in, you still have paid for only 4 seats – nothing more. If that make sense?
☞Cleaning Fees: This is a very, very common fee that you should be aware of. If you or someone within your group makes a mess in the driver’s vehicle, you can expect to be billed for the damages. A cleaning fee can range from $50.00 to $200.00 on top of your initial fare.
