Question: Can you use cash for Uber?
Answer: Uber is actually testing the cash option across many cities. If you are in one of those cities who has the cash option, you will be able to see it via the app. See the instructions below.
1. Go to the menu in the left top corner and tap the payment tab
2. Select ‘CASH’ – this will display if that option is available in your city. If you do NOT see ‘Cash’, then you will not have that option at this time.
3. Confirm your pick-up address and payment method
4. Request your ride
5. Once your trip comes to an end, you will pay the amount shown in your app directly to your driver in cash!
If you do not have the cash option available in your app, do NOT pay your driver cash anyway. This will only cause you to be billed twice! Uber drivers do not have control over billing so do NOT pay them cash without going through the app. If the option is not there, certainly that means that it’s not an option for you at this time.
Don’t worry; Uber is slowing rolling out the cash option to be an option in all cities. So until then, you would need to upload a valid credit card or attach your Paypal, Google Wallet or Apple Pay. We must point out, that some prepaid cards are not accepted by their system. So if you credit card gets rejected, then that is likely why.
