Rider Issue: Uber Phone Number Has Already Been Registered

Answer: If your number is already registered on another account this can be an easy fix. But, you cannot fix it on your own. You will need to contact Uber support.

Sometimes a rider might have forgotten that they had already setup an account. If that is the case, Uber will help you gain access to your existing account.Uber Phone Number Has Already Been Registered

However, if you do not have another account Uber will ask you to verify your number by sending a text with your name to 847-416-0610. You might get back an error message, but you can ignore that. From there, the agent can verify your number and release it so you can use it on your own new account.

On some rare cases Uber will need to verify your identity in order to proceed with releasing your phone number. They may ask you to send in your government ID. Why you might ask? Because it’s very possible that the number you are trying to use has been banned for whatever reason.

So if you are asked for your ID just understand that this is as a safety precaution. Click here to contact Uber.
