✎ Community Response: From time to time a rider might not be too happy with the route their driver has taken. Uber understand that your time is valuable and that you depend on Uber for a reliable and efficient ride.
▸Uber Internal System: Uber can see if your driver got lost or not and how much time the entire trip took. Just because your driver got lost doesn’t mean that it cost you more money or even a lot of extra time. So keep that in mind before you contact Uber disputing the route because it will be a waste of time, there’s not much they can do but apologize.
▸It Will Never Be Prefect: When taking public transportation like an Uber this sort of thing can happen. It would be nice if all drivers knew every single route in your city and it would be even better if their GPS would be without error. But, unfortunately this will not always be the case.
▸Accurate Address: We have seen that a lot of time the driver doesn’t have the correct destination address, which can cause some confusion with the route. In the future, you can always confirm with your driver your destination address before taking off. It also want hurt to discuss the route your driver will be taking beforehand. Most of the time if the driver is unfamiliar with where they are going they will admit to it and therefore will be depending solely on their GPS. If you know how to get to your destination, don’t be afraid to speak up and say so.
▸Fare Estimate: It makes perfectly good sense to always, always get a fare estimate prior to taking any trip. That way, you will know if you have been overcharged or not.
▸Leaving A Star Rating: Don’t forget to rate your driver, this is how Uber keeps the best drivers on the road. To be fair, even if your driver got lost that doesn’t mean that the trip should be rated 1 or 2 stars. If your only issue was that the driver got a little off course, you should consider still giving them 4 or even 5 stars. If the driver got way off course, but everything else was okay, you should consider 3 or 4 stars.
▸Getting A Refund: Nonetheless, if your driver getting lost has caused you pay more than expected, then please contact Uber support at email@example.com. Uber will be able to determine if you have overpaid or not. If you have, then they will either give you a refund in credits or your money back.
