😣 Uber Account Verification in 2017 👀
Community Issue:★ Many riders are concerned about Uber Account Verification process. In this article we will go over two of the most common reasons a rider might have to go through the verification and what Uber will ask of you.
There’s probably only two reasons we can think of that you might need to have your Uber account verified. Lets take a look.
You are a new app user and you are unable to receive the verification text so you can confirm your phone number. Because without your number being confirmed, you are not able to use the app.
If this is your issue, then you need to contact Uber at help.uber.com and request that they manually verify it for you. Log in to your account on that page at the bottom of the article. It’s just that simple. It’s a possibility that your mobile carrier is blocking Uber’s short code text message.
Verify Your Account
Not a big deal.
However, if your mobile number is already registered on someone else account, then Uber might ask you to send a screenshot of the number in your phone’s settings along with your state ID.
Your account has been recently disabled and now they need to verify your identity in order for your account to be reactivated.
Well my friend, you do not have any other choice but to comply with this request. Uber has certain security policies in place to prevent misuse and abuse of their services.
If you have nothing to hide, then you should find no reason not to send over your state ID and credit card. We don’t wanna hear anything about you don’t feel safe sending your stuff over to them.
Because you can cover up everything on your ID except your name and you can cover up all the numbers on your credit card except the last 4 digits.
Uber Account Verification
FYI. Your name must match what you have put on the Uber account. You cannot have an account in the name “James Bond”, but your ID and credit card shows “Jamie Wilson”. That’s a red flag to them and you likely will not gain access to your account again.
That is why it’s always a good idea to use your real name on any online service that you must use a credit card or some form of payment to utilize. Because you might run into more problems when you are asked to prove your identity. As for your Uber account, don’t worry drivers do not see last names. They can only see your first name. Therefore you shouldn’t have any major concerns about your name being displayed.
Conclusion: Going Through The Process
In order to verify your Uber account, you will need to provide your government identification and credit card you have on file. If your info doesn’t match your account, you may or may not regain access to your account. If the credit card is not in your name (even if you have permission to have the card) Uber will not unblock the credit card.
Plus the card will not be able to be used again on any Uber account unless the rightfully owner is able to verify it on their own account. You will need to upload a new credit card if you would like to use your account again.
If you no longer have the credit card or the card is not yours – it would be best to let Uber know upfront that you would like to upload a new credit card (for whatever reason), but you can verify your identity. It’s a small possibility that Uber will need to see the new card before letting it be placed on your account too. So be prepared if you get asked to send it over.
If you are worried about the safety of sending your info via email to Uber, you can cover up everything except your name, the last four digits of the card and the expiration date. On you ID you can cover up everything except your name and date of birth.
