Someone Stole My Uber Phone
Driver Issue: ★ Someone Stole My Uber Phone ★
Answer: If your Uber phone has been stolen or lost here’s what Uber can do for you…
☛Basically, nothing. Sorry.:(
You can replace the phone yourself and download the driver app if you would like. You must have an iPhone 4S, 5, 5C, 5S, 6 or 6 Plus and are running iOS7 or iOS8, or a 2013 Android device, version 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) or newer.
If you cannot get your own iPhone you can request another phone from Uber. However, you will be charged a deposit of $200 which will be deducted in $50 increments from your earnings over 4 weeks.
The deduction will appear on your payment statement as a miscellaneous payment. Upon return of the Uber Phone, your deposit refund will be issued back to your account within 2 – 3 weeks.
You will also be charged a $10 weekly fee for every device you have. This fee offsets the cost of data, development, and inventory.
☛What if I file a police report?
Back in the days Uber would waive the deposit if a police report was filed. However, this is not something they do anymore. Even if you tell Uber a rider stole it there’s nothing they can or will do about it. Uber is not going to investigate or interrogate a rider about a lost item.
Nor will they provide you with the rider personal contact information. Technically, you are responsible for your own belongs and Uber will not get involve.
If you are sure a rider stole your phone, then you might want to press charges against that person. But, sometimes pressing charges can be a complete waste of time. You might have to suck this one up and buy yourself a new phone or just rent one from Uber.
